Question

A curve C{C} has equation
y=ax2+bx+c,\displaystyle y = \frac{a}{x^2} + bx + c,
where a,b{a,b} and c{c} are constants. It is given that C{C} passes through the points with coordinates (1.6,7.2){(1.6, -7.2 )} and (0.7,3.7),{(-0.7, -3.7 ),} and that the gradient of C{C} is 3{3} where x=1.{x=1.}
(i)
Find the values of a,b{a,b} and c,{c,} giving yours answers correct to 3 decimal places.
[4]
(ii)
Find the x-coordinate{x\textrm{-coordinate}} of the point where C{C} crosses the x-axis,{x\textrm{-axis},} giving your answer correct to 3 decimal places.
